Windows Partition Recovery After failure of merging

Partition merging is a method of combining two or more adjoining partitions on a disk. As the result of partition merging, the partitions may lose their original aligning or sizes. The process involves selecting a target and secondary partition along with few parameters used to create a single merged partition, such as cluster size, partition type etc.

The recent practices employed to merge the partitions have less chances of data loss before or after merging partitions because it includes retaining at least one copy of all user and system data. However, serious data loss instances can occur if the operation is interrupted at a critical stage. For example, if a power failure occurs right after the point at which the original partition system data is deleted, a user may need to Recover Windows Data from a backup.

The further practical issue depicts a similar type of data loss problem. A Windows user decides to merge two hard disk partitions of different sizes. But after sometime of ongoing partition merging process, a power outage occurs. The next time, when he/she starts the computer, it observes that the entire space of target partition is showing unallocated. Consequently, no data is accessible from the partition.

Description

For a FAT type partition, if an interruption occurs until the stage when its temporary FAT (File Allocation Table) and root file object in memory are correct, target partition can be recovered. But if this memory data is corrupt and target system data is lost, the target partition becomes inaccessible.

The same rule corresponds to NTFS and its MFT (Master File Table).

Solution

To recover from such issues, one needs solutions like:

Deleting the corrupted disk partitions, creating the new ones, and restoring data from the last available backup

Using a powerful, third-party windows data recovery utility

Designed to perform effective scan and easy-to-use partition data recovery software can rescue all lost information from a corrupted disk partition, irrespective of cause. Some of these tools supporting RAW data recovery are competent enough to Recover Partition and its data, even without the aid of file system.
