Windows Data Recovery Software to solve 'Last Writer Wins' Algorithm - Data Loss Problem

In Microsoft Windows operating system replication can is accomplished by using FRS (File Replication Service). File Replication Service is a Microsoft Windows Server service for distributing folders stored in the SYSVOL shared folder on domain controllers and Distributed File System (DFS) shared folders. It is also known as NTFRS after the name of the executable file that runs the service. This service is part of Microsoft's Active Directory.

It replaces LMREPL service provided by windows NT 4.0 and 3.x. MS Windows 2000 servers use the FRS service for replication of login scripts. But, here its important to mention that if the user runs “Last Writer Wins” algorithm on replicated matter, he may lose his data. Now , to tackle such situations there is need of windows data recovery to be done to retrieve the lost data .

The multi-master replication technique is used by FRS for keeping the files and folders stored in DFS tree that exist between the partners. This technique makes it assured that the changes to the files on one partner gets replicated to other 'downstream' partners systematically.

There is an explicit need to enable the replication in Dfsgui.msc (Distributed File System Manager Snap-in) for the DFS root and the replica members.

The 'last writer wins' algorithm, means the last update of the files become 'authoritative' of document file size or version. This feature makes the FRS suitable for replicating files. In some cases, applying the 'last writer wins' algorithms on the FRS-replicated content might remove the files or make the inaccessible. This gives birth to data loss problem and to solve it, we need Windows Data Recovery Software.
